In an interview to promote his new film The Woman In Black, Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has spoken to The Radio Times about the recent Potter snub at the Oscars. And it’s fair to say that he wasn’t mincing his words…

“I don’t think the Oscars like commercial films, or kids’ films, unless they’re directed by Martin Scorsese. I was watching Hugo the other day and going, ‘Why is this nominated and we’re not?’ I was slightly miffed. There’s a certain amount of snobbery.”

Five of the Harry Potter films have been nominated for Oscars in technical categories but none for acting, directing or writing – let alone for best picture. “It’s kind of disheartening. I never thought I’d care.”

But he does add: “How much of a pat on the back do we really need? We get paid stupid amounts of money.”
