True Detective and The Notebook star Rachel McAdams might join Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

Speaking to The LA Times, Rachel McAdams confirms that she is in “early talks” to join the ever-expanding MCU, as the female lead in Doctor Strange.

“It’s still super-early days, and I don’t know where that’s gonna go, if it’s gonna go anywhere at all,” McAdams cautions.

If the deal goes through, McAdams would star opposite Sherlock‘s Benedict Cumberbatch, who has been cast in the titular role.

Earlier this month we reported that Tilda Swinton joined the cast as The Ancient One, while Chiwetel Ejiofor is rumored for the role of Baron Mordo.

We don’t yet know which character McAdams is in talks to play, as the female lead in Doctor Strange hasn’t been named. However, it’s likely either Clea or Sara Wolfe, the Doctor’s closest allies.

Clea is a 700-year-old ruler of the Dark Dimension, who fights alongside Doctor Strange as he battles the mystical forces. Sara is his secretary and business manager, a “normal” in the world of the strange, much like Tony Stark’s Pepper Potts (except for the romance aspect).

Doctor Strange is set to his theaters on November 4, 2016, directed by Scott Derrickson with a script by Jon Spaihts.

When Cumberbatch was first cast, he admitted that he was “really excited” to take on the role. “There’s a lot of work to be done and I’m just at the beginning of it all so I’m not going to talk too much about it but it’s a thrilling gig to get,” he said.
