Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was snubbed in the 2018 Emmy nominations, and the show’s co-creator and star Rachel Bloom is taking the news really well.

The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has always taken on hard subjects like sexism, racism, mental health, alcoholism, and attachment issues with a great deal of respect and a shocking amount of humor, but the show’s previous season took the show to new heights. With the show’s main character dealing with suicide and a serious diagnosis from her psychiatrist, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend proved to all the naysayers that it was not just a show with funny songs about heavy boobs (not that it ever was), it was a show with something really important to say.

So when the show was snubbed by the 2018 Emmy Awards, fans were pretty bummed to see such an amazing show that touched on so many important issues that also showed how easy it could be to hire a diverse cast get the cold shoulder. Luckily, the show’s co-creator, writer, and star Rachel Bloom took the news all in stride. Bloom posted a hilarious video to her Instagram (which her co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna reposted to her own Instagram) that assured fans she was “super chill” about the Emmy snub.

Obviously, the video is a joke and is a great example of Bloom’s sense of humor. However for fans, after such an important season, we can’t help but feel frustrated that the show didn’t get any Emmy love.

But Emmy or no Emmy, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is still a show you can’t help but love that is telling really important stories (set to show tunes, no less). The show will return in the fall for its fourth and final season on the CW, so there’s still time for some future Emmy vindication.
