‘Outlander’

Murtagh: “If you look hard enough, you just might see the Americas. It’s the only place you haven’t sung that damn song yet.”

“Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” sung Sassenach style was fun for the first minute. After that, it got really, really old. It wasn’t just Murtagh feeling the pain, but the audience feeling it as well. This was one comedy moment that could have been a lot shorter.

‘Once Upon a Time’

Killian: “You’re telling me that in this other reality, I’m an expert with such a weapon?”

When Gold rewrites his story, the once fearless and swashbuckling Captain Hook is reduced to nothing more than a meek deckhand. When it comes time to take on the Evil Queen Snow and her henchman, David, Hook needs a few pointers from Emma.

‘Game of Thrones’

Maester Aemon: “You will find little joy in your command, but with luck you will find the strength to do what needs to be done. Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy, and let the man be born.”

It’s not easy being the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. Maester Aemon, the oldest brother on The Wall, gives Jon Snow some sage advice.

On page 2: ‘The Originals,’ ‘Brooklyn 99,’ and ‘The Flash’

‘The Originals’

Marcel: “That is the Mikaelsson paradox, you want to love and kill each other, all at the same time.”

Never has a single quote better explained the craziness of the Mikaelson family. Marcel should know, as he’s been around long enough to know just how tumultuous this family can be.

‘Brooklyn 99’

Holt: “Deathblade! Sidewinder! It’s go time!”

Jake: “Roger that, Wet Blanket.”

Holt: “No, from now on call me….Velvet Thunder!”

That is the sound of all of Jake’s wildest dreams coming true. He has always wanted Holt to go full throttle on a case, and with the stakes this high and the helicopter blades whooshing overhead, Jake Peralta is on cloud nine.

‘The Flash’

Barry Allen: “You gave me your word.”

Captain Cold: “It’s true, I did. But here’s the thing: I’m a criminal and a liar, and I hurt people, and I rob them. What did you expect me to do, not be who I am?”

Captain Cold betrays Barry after agreeing to help him transport the metahumans from S.T.A.R. Labs to an A.R.G.U.S. facility. Barry didn’t see the betrayal coming, but Captain Cold reminds him of who he was dealing with.

On page 3: ‘Supernatural,’ ‘Arrow,’ and ‘Elementary’

‘Arrow’

Felicity Smoak: “Barry.”

The Flash: “Thank you, Felicity. You just outed my secret identity to a super villain. No offense.”

Malcolm Merlyn: “None taken.”

When the Flash arrives to rescue Team Arrow from Nanda Parbat, Felicity forgets that not everyone in the dungeon knows his identity. Barry doesn’t appreciate his identity being made known to a supervillain.

‘Supernatural’

Sam Winchester: “Maybe everyone else forgot about all the bad you’ve done, but I haven’t. I have watched you kill people, innocent people, people I cared about, people I loved. Yeah, you have the accent and the suit and the snark, but at the end of it you are a monster.”

While believing he’s watching Crowley die a slow, painful death, Sam reminds Crowley about why he’s doing it. Crowley may have allied himself with the Winchesters on and off, but that doesn’t change the pain he’s caused.

‘Elementary’

Joan Watson: “Your father called. I don’t know how, but he found out what happened. He’s getting on a plane. He’ll be here tomorrow.”

The final line of the season, spoken to Sherlock Holmes, delivers the punch that makes a six month hiatus seem unbearable. After fighting for three whole seasons with the recovery process, Sherlock Holmes sits in a dazed state, recovering from his great fall.

On page 4: ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ and ‘Orphan Black,’

‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Miranda Bailey: “It’s just not fair to this other candidate because I am going to wipe the floor with her or him. It’s gonna hurt. Being trounced hurts. It will be embarrassing, publicly and professionally losing by that wide a margin because I am primed for this job, Sir.”

Empty promises from Richard Webber are a dime a dozen and Miranda Bailey is not going to take the punches lying down anymore. When he approaches her with the condition that she will face an opponent in the race for the position of Chief, she shows him just how ready she is.

‘Orphan Black’

Mark: “Stick it in fast, it will hurt less.”

Sarah: “God, you must be one hell of a first date.”

On any other show, this dialogue would sound like sexual banter. On Orphan Black, however, it’s just about a brother and sister getting to know each other as Sarah stitches up Mark’s gunshot wound.
