Jenna Coleman stars as a young Queen Victoria in new ITV drama Victoria. See her embody the iconic British monarch in a brand new trailer.

Coleman has traded the TARDIS for a castle — which sounds like a win/win choice to us — donning a gown and a crown to portray the willful, strict, feared and loved Queen Victoria, who ascended the British throne at the tender age of 18, and ruled for more than 60 years.

The former Doctor Who companion stars opposite Eve Myles, Tom Hughes, Rufus Sewell, Tommy Knight and more, in the ITV miniseries simply titled Victoria.

Yesterday, ITV released a short teaser trailer for the drama, which shows Coleman taking the throne. Watch below:

In the trailer, Jenna Coleman says, “I know that I am young, but I’m ready for the great responsibility that lies before me.” We see her subjects and her family, and in front of her waits Lord Melbourne (Rufus Sewell), Queen Victoria’s real-life friend and mentor, who served as Britain’s Prime Minister from 1835–1841.

It all looks gorgeous, although Coleman’s blue contact lenses are a little jarring, right? We suppose the accuracy of Queen Victoria’s eye color is pretty important to get right however, what with her being a real-life monarch and not a fictional wizard child and all.

Although we’re well into 2016 there’s still no exact release date for Victoria, but we’re expecting it some time in the fall. PBS has announced that they’ll be picking it up to air in the U.S., presumably towards the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017.

The eight-episode miniseries will follow Victoria from her ascension to the throne, through her marriage to Prince Albert (Tom Hughes), and well into her reign.
