Quantico finally revealed who has been the Voice on the other end of Alex’s phone all season! At least a few fans were able to get past their confusion to react to the twist.

Warning: This post contains a huge spoiler from Quantico season 1, episode 20, “Drive.” If you want to see who the Voice is for yourself, watch the episode first!

After weeks of listening for subtle cadences in distorted audio, we finally heard the Voice, loud and clear! The man behind the auditory mask is none other than… (insert drumroll here)

Drew Perales!! The ex-NFL star, turned FBI trainee, turned ex-FBI trainee, turned apparent terrorist.

The Quantico showrunner, Josh Safran, had this to say about the decision behind the reveal in an interview with EW:

“We always knew it would be people involved in the Quantico side of the world, and we loved the idea that Drew, Iris, and Will were all in the class that vetted our class, and once we knew that, we knew that it was someone before Alex had gotten there that would be involved. And from that point forward, we started realizing that Drew had the most to lose and the most animosity toward the FBI — although, as you can see, we made Will, Iris, and Drew all have issues. Iris didn’t get her security clearance, Will went down a road with Caleb that ended up getting him out of the FBI, and then you have Drew, who’s lost so much in his life. He’s like, “I’ll do good where my good actually comes to something,” and then he was thrown out. It came together more and more as we moved forward.”

He was further questioned about Drew’s motivations, and said the following:

“It’s the FBI for failing him for something that was beyond his control, and something that isn’t necessarily even true. [The shaking] could simply have been nerves or anxiety… it was beyond his control, and he lost so much. That was the motivation, not so much what he has against Alex.”

Given these responses, it’s fairly clear that this is not just a Shelby situation! Drew is working based on his own motivations, whether he is the mastermind behind the whole attack, or just one piece of the puzzle. It also looks like he’s not acting alone, though! The trailer for next week’s episode of Quantico ask #Whoisthetraitor? and the Quantico writers are still asking the same question.

So, it looks like we’ll have to wait until at least next week to solve everything, but for now, check out what these fans think about Drew’s involvement. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

This makes perfect sense!

Of all the NATs, Drew is potentially the one with the most motivation to act against the FBI. The fact that we hadn’t seen him in the Grand Central timeline until Quantico season 1, episode 20, only added to suspicions. These fans think that Drew fits the profile of the Voice perfectly.

I can’t believe it!

While some people may have seen this coming, including Hypable (kind of), some fans are still saying OMG about this OMG moment.

This is stupid!

We’ve been trying to figure out who was behind the Grand Central bombing all season, so our pool of suspects consisted of the NATs that we’ve known from the very beginning. Drew came into the show in the mid-season premiere, so some fans think it was a let down to hear that he was the person involved.

Given Safran’s response to the reveal, Drew couldn’t have been the only person framing Alex, since he didn’t decide to go after the FBI until he had already left Quantico. There’s still a big piece of the puzzle missing, so I’d bet that these people will feel more satisfied next week.

No! Anyone but Drew!

Drew may have joined Quantico a little later than some of our other favorite characters, but he definitely left an impression. Many fans were holding out for a reunion between Alex and Drew down the line, or at least, some sort of happy ending for him.

Yes! I’m so glad it’s Drew!

On the other hand, a certain subset of the Quantico fandom, consisting largely (but not entirely) of Ryan/Alex shippers, couldn’t be happier that the ex-football player has now fallen even further from grace.

I still have no idea what’s going on!

Alas, many fans left this episode just as confused as they have been for all of Quantico season 1. We may have gotten some answers, but there are still so many puzzle pieces that need to come together.

What did you think about the reveal in ‘Quantico’ 1×20?
