What exactly did we learn about Caleb in this episode? Is he innocent? Guilty? Both? Neither? Find out that and a whole lot more in Quantico season 1, episode 18, “Soon.”

Present Day

Alex Parrish

Alex did some digging, and has reason to believe that Caleb is involved in the terrorist plot. Thanks to Ryan alerting the Senator, Claire Haas picks Alex up and shows her exactly why Caleb has nothing to do with whatever conspiracy Alex is alluding to.

Caleb Haas

Caleb has been locked away in his family’s estate outside the city self-medicating with whatever drugs his mother gets him. He was spared from the explosion at the makeshift FBI Headquarters due to his father, who died in the explosion after forcing Caleb out of the building. She’s been regulating his habit and weaning him off the drugs, but has made sure to make him happy enough to keep him quiet and out of the spotlight. Once his mother vacates the premises, he escapes in time to meet up with Alex out front. The two head off after he makes a phone call alerting someone to his escape with the words, “She fell for it. We’re on our way now. I’ll see you soon.”

Ryan Booth

Booth is still on the warpath as far as Alex Parrish goes. He uses Nimah to plant a bug on her computer that allows him to see whatever she’s doing on her desktop on his own. He learned a few things about her latest suspects, and tipped off Senator Haas. He also thinks he has a way to get a man inside Alex’s operation, but that took a swerve to the right when his inside man refused to take orders.

Reyna Amin

Reyna received a call from Alex who was desperate for allies now that hers have been taken by The Voice. Reyna may not be an agent anymore, but she can pass for Nimah, and Nimah has the security clearance that Alex needs to find out what Ryan knows. In the midst of her attempts to infiltrate Ryan’s investigation, Reyna is discovered. Ryan tries to turn her against Alex, but Reyna stays firm that she’d rather go to prison than betray Alex, her friend that needs her.

Back at Quantico

This week was all about physical exams and security clearance. The NATs are getting close to graduation and the FBI is getting everything in order to release these new agents into the world.

Caleb Haas and Shelby Wyatt

He and Shelby pair up to fill out their security clearance forms and both leave off the biggest secrets in their lives. Sistemics stays off the form for Caleb, while Shelby neglects to include her parents being alive. Caleb is cleared with no flags, while Shelby is told to wait for further evaluation. When Iris convinces her that Caleb is lying to her, Shelby takes what she knows about Sistemics to Liam, who ignores it thanks to a text from Clayton Haas.

Iris Chang

When Iris learns that Will and Caleb are up to something involving Sistemics, she calls and reports to them that an FBI informant is amongst their new members. Will was already on his way to the compound when she told Caleb, so there was no way to warn him not to go in. Caleb runs off to save him, and has to convince Sistemics that his father pulled him from the cult, but that his true allegiance has always been with the cult. He is forced to beat Will senseless with a pipe until Shelby stumbles on to the scene to rescue her fellow NAT. Will collapses into her arms and she cradles his unconscious body.

Miranda Shaw

Miranda has been removed from her position at Quantico, and she is determined to make sure that Liam goes down with her. She knows that it’s near to impossible to save her job at this point, but there’s no way she’s going to let Liam slide into her former job unimpeded. She gets him drunk at a nearby bar, has sex with him in the bathroom, and goads him into admitting to his and Alex’s tryst from earlier that year.

She intended to use that evidence to burn Liam once and for all, but Clayton refuses to use it against him. Miranda, now infuriated by the boys club antics going on, goes to Alex to inspire her. She reminds Alex that there’s still a lot of struggle for women in the Bureau, and begs her to push boundaries and be a force for change.

Least trustworthy NATs based on the events of this episode

  1. Shelby Wyatt:The woman behind the wheel at the end of last episode takes the top of our list this week. If Caleb truly has remained uninvolved this whole time, then Shelby may have had the motivation to implicate him in as many ways as possible.
  2. Will Olsen:If anything, this week proved that he has even more reason to want to destroy his fellow NATs than before. In addition to all the reasons we’ve considered previously, he’s now been beaten bloody by Caleb for trying to help him save his friend. He’s a very smart man who could easily be fooling us all.
  3. Iris Chang:Her phone call to Sistemics in which she named herself, her position in the cult, and wasn’t questioned by the person on the other line has us curious what connection she may have to them. Is she undercover for them at Quantico? Or is she just a good enough liar to fool them?

Who do you think is working for the terror cell that Alex is trying to bring down?
