The actor, known for his role in HBO’s Looking, will join Priyanka Chopra and the rest of the cast in the second season of Quantico.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that when the show comes back in fall 2016, it will feature at least one new face: that of Russell Tovey.

The Quantico showrunner, Josh Safran, apparently created the role specifically for Tovey, as he admires him as an actor. Safran told THR, “Ever since being introduced to him in The History Boys 10 years ago, I’ve hoped to work with Russell. It’s been an honor for the writers and myself to be able to create this role specifically for him.”

As for what the role is, Tovey will play a character named Harry Doyle. The character is described as “a mischievous gadabout. Part Thomas Crown, part grown-up Artful Dodger, the mysterious Harry can be anything to anybody — and is just as likely to seduce your husband as he is to pick his pocket when it’s over.”

Although it is not confirmed, Harry Doyle will most likely be a member of the CIA, where Alex will be training in the upcoming season of Quantico. She’s leaving all of her former classmates behind in the FBI, so she will be looking for some new people to surround herself with in her new workplace. From this description, it sounds like Harry Doyle could either be worthy competition for Alex, or a valuable ally. Likely, he will end up being both!

This is the first of what will probably be many casting announcements for Quantico season 2. The show will return to its Sunday night time slot on ABC in the fall, but until then, keep an eye on Hypable for more news!
