Every week Publisher’s Weekly posts the latest deals and happenings in the book world. This week Andrea Cremer (author of the Nightshade series), Rachel Caine (author of Morganville Vampires), and newcomer Yelena Black all have new deals.

Fans of the Nightshade series will be happy to hear that Andrea Cremer has signed a new 2-book deal.  The first is a steampunk novel called The Inventor’s Secret and is set in an alternate 19th century in which the American Revolution never happened and the British rule the world. Inventor’s Secret is currently scheduled for fall 2013. The second, Rise, is a prequel to the NYT Bestselling series Nightshade. The final book in the original Nightshade series is coming out in January 2012, and another Nightshade prequel is already scheduled for fall 2012. Cremer also has The Invisibility Curse co-authored with David Levithan coming out in 2013. The story of a boy cursed by invisibility and the girl who can see him, and may hold the power to cure him. Someone has been incredibly busy!

Rachel Caine signed a new deal for three more books in the Morganville Vampire series.  The series already has over a million copies in print.  The 11th book will be coming out in November.

Lastly, recent MFA grad Yelena Black has landed a three book deal at Bloomsbury.

From Publisher’s Weekly:

Bloomsbury calls the trilogy a Black Swan–like (in reference to the film) tale of a 15-year-old who starts witnessing spooky goings-on at her prestigious ballet school. When Vanessa Adler becomes suspicious of the controlling choreographer at her academy, she stumbles upon the fact that he is staging a performance in which “the school’s dancers become pawns in a world of demons.” The first book in the series, Diabolical,  will be published internationally in English—in the U.S., U.K., and Australia—in winter 2013.

I think Diabolical sounds really interesting. Demonic dancers, anyone?
