All kinds of Potter plays are planning Australian productions – but before Cursed Child makes its way to Australia, the Puffs will launch their first international production in Melbourne in May.

Puffs, the off-Broadway play all about the Hufflepuffs in Harry’s year, continues seeing extraordinary success, and the stars have finally aligned to send the Puffs outside of New York City. The Puffs will begin previews at the Alex Theatre in Melbourne on May 26, and officially open their second production on May 31. Tickets will officially go on sale this Friday.

The Aussies are in for a treat, as they’ll soon be able to see Puffs as many times as they want – this writer has tallied up 13 visits, and is always eager to go again. The Australian production will have different local references and accents, but will keep the humor and heart of the original production.

Meanwhile, the NYC company of Puffs just added another show every week, bringing their total to seven shows a week – after all, that’s the most powerfully magical number. They now have evening shows every day, Thursday through Monday, in addition to the two family friendly matinees on weekends.

As the behind-the-scenes team works on readying the filmed version of Puffs for release, there are also plans afoot for a national tour of the US. Eventually, Potter fans will be able to see Puffs wherever they live, and the fandom will be all the better for it.
