Publisher’s Weekly has compiled a fantastic article on Christopher Paolini, author of the Inheritance Cycle.

As many of you know, Inheritance, the fourth and final book in the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, is set to release on Tuesday, November 8th. What some of you may not know is that Eragon was originally a self published novel in 2001.  By 2003 Random House had heard enough buzz about the young author and his book to publish it through their young readers branch Knopf.

When speaking with Publisher’s Weekly, copy editor Artie Bennett said, “Christopher uses the word Hippopotomonstrosesquipedalian [meaning “big words” or words that are one and a half feet long] in the book, which might be the first use of the word in a literary venture.” Bennett goes on to say that working with Paolini on Inheritance was a labor of love.

From Publisher’s Weekly:

Frey says she’s never done this with any other author, nor for any other book, but because the book was on such a tight timeline and is so large (the first draft arrived in excess of 300,000 words), both author and editor thought it best to go over the changes in person. 300,000 words is a beast of book! According to the product page on Amazon Inheritance is printed at 880 pages.  Random House has planned an 18 city tour for Paolini and has launched a Facebook app called the Inheritance Quest.

So what will you be doing to celebrate the release of Inheritance? Are you lucky enough to live near one of the tour stops?
