‘Psych’ season 8 was confirmed back in December, but it has been announced that USA Network recently ordered five more scripts for the show!

We know you cannot get enough of our favorite fake detectives, and now we’ll get to see them for five more weeks than anticipated! With this extension, the Psych season 8 episode count is brought up to a typical 13, instead of the slated eight we heard about with the renewal. We are currently a little bit past the halfway mark with season 7, and Shawn (James Roday), Gus (Dule Hill), and the rest of the Santa Barbara Police Department crew are showing no signs of slowing down.

Despite Psych‘s consistently strong ratings for the network, many critics are saying this next season could be its last. With Psych season 8, it will solidify its place as the longest-running USA Network original show (even though it has held that title for a while now). A small caveat with this upcoming season, as pointed out by Deadline’s article about the news, is that Maggie Lawson, James Roday’s real life girlfriend, who plays Detective Juliet O’Hara, Shawn’s on-screen (now ex-)girlfriend, may not be able to appear in every episode. She’s currently contracted to a new comedy pilot on ABC and, should it go to series, she would only be available for a handful of Psych episodes.

Do you think the show would be different without Lawson? Sound off in the comments!

Tonight’s episode, “Juliet Wears The Pantsuit,” will be an interesting episode for sure – it’s the first time we have seen Juliet and Shawn not in a relationship together in a while. The past two episodes, specifically last week’s with the interesting “what-if” scenarios, have been entertaining, to say the least.

‘Psych’ airs tonight at 10pm!
