Pre-orders for Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One will no longer be taken at major retailers like Amazon and GameStop.
IGN reports that Amazon has sold out of “launch” versions of both the PS4 and Xbox One.
The online selling retailer announced, “After a crazy and exciting month, we’ve sold through our initial allocations of PS4 and Xbox One.”
There are reportedly as many as 2,500 next-gen consoles per minute being preorderd on Amazon.com. These numbers shatter pre-order records, with day one next-gen pre-orders reaching “nearly two times that of all video game sales on Black Friday last year.”
Amazon went on to say, “Thank you to all who have ordered and shared your opinions. We have the Standard Editions for both consoles still available, but we can’t guarantee these at release. Please check back here as we’ll update you first if we receive further release day allocations.”
It seems as though those who are still interested in pre-ordering either the Xbox One or PS4 can still order the Standard Editions of the consoles from Amazon’s website, but there’s no guarntee that these will be available on launch date.
GameStop has completely stopped all pre-orders of their PS4s in the United States, showing good signs for Sony’s console.
A statement released by GameStop reads, “Due to high demand for the system, GameStop is not currently taking additional store reservations for the PlayStation 4.”
Lastly, eBay is no longer accepting pre-orders for the Xbox One.
Places where pre-orders are still running for Xbox One are Target, GameStop, and Wal-Mart. It costs $499.99 to pre-order.
The PS4 is still available for pre-order at Target and Wal-Mart. It runs for an MSRP of $399.99.
The Xbox One will release November 27, while the PS4 hits shelves sometime in that same month. The PS4 will come out presumably before Black Friday.
