The Project for Awesome 2015 kicks off today at 12:00 p.m. EST! Check out this year’s campaign and prepare to settle in with John and Hank Green for their 48 hour live stream!

The Project for Awesome, more commonly known in the Nerdfighter community as the P4A, kicks of its ninth year of fundraising today, December 11, at 12:00 p.m. EST. The fundraising campaign began in 2007 as a way to bring awareness to charities by populating Youtube’s homepage with videos submitted and watched by followers of John Green and Hank Green’s Vlogbrothers channel. Many algorithms, VidCons, and successful YA novel adaptations later, the P4A lives on! The mission is simple — raise money to decrease world suck. In fact, there is even a 501(c)3 charitable organization now called The Foundation to Decrease World Suck. Last year’s P4A raised nearly $1.2 million.

From December 11 through December 13, John and Hank will be hosting a live stream. There is no possible way of knowing what will happen as the clock keeps ticking and their minds get a little crazy. In the past Wil Wheaton has stopped by to populate the world with googly eyes, John has read excerpts from new work and some poetry, a John bobble-head accidentally suffered decapitation at the hands of Hank, and, most importantly, the stream pauses to watch videos uploaded for the P4A as a community and then discusses the organization.

Just like last year, the first half of the P4A will support the nonprofit organizations Save the Children and the UN’s High Commission on Refugees. The second half of the P4A will be distributed to charities chosen by the Nerdfighter community. Not only will you learn more about the charities doing great work all over the world, but there are quite a few perks for fans who call the Internet home.

So far, the Indiegogo campaign site has everything from buttons, to an exclusive John Green poetry podcast, and some signed Hank and John swag. More perks are added throughout the campaign so be sure to check back frequently!
