Earlier today the royal baby was born to Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. After weeks of anticipation and excitement among fans around the world, the royal baby boy is finally here, and Professor Snape has tweeted a suggested title for their newborn.

Prince William and Kate’s child was born at 4:24 PM London time, and the official weight was revealed in front of the palace as 8 pounds, 6 ounces. Of course, at the time we didn’t report the news as it’s not necessarily connected to one of our fandoms. But, now one of our favorite Professors, Severus Snape, has tweeted the perfect title for the royal newborn.

So while we don’t yet know the new royal child’s name, we can temporarily refer to him as His Royal Half-Blood Prince. We thought this was just too great not to share, and we of course share the royal couple’s joy for their healthy new baby.

The tweet of course comes from a Harry Potter fan, as the true Professor Snape would never join such a sniveling social network such as Twitter, but it’s incredibly witty nonetheless and we imagine our beloved Alan Rickman would approve of the royal baby’s suggested title.

Fans may have known that no matter the gender of the couple’s child, it would be guaranteed its spot as third in line to the throne. The new rule was ratified this past year, which removed the automatic right of the first male offspring to gain the throne over a possible daughter.

This was a major change to the royal family, as it has been a rule for centuries that the first male heir be entitled to the throne over all sisters and any brothers born after them.

The Queen now has her third great-grandchild, and just this past year celebrated her Diamond Jubilee, marking her 60th anniversary on the throne. We wish the royal family the best, and hope they catch wind of Professor Snape’s hilariously suggested title.
