According to the show runners, production has finally wrapped on The Legend of Korra season 3, titled “Book 3: Change.”
The Legend of Korra show runner and writer Mike DiMartino recently took to his Tumblr to cry out joyous tidings to the Avatar world: Production has finally been completed on the third season of The Legend of Korra!
“Today we finished the final sound mix of Book 3,” DiMartino wrote, with evident enthusiasm. “Can’t believe we’ve finished an entire season’s worth of shows.” The writer and show runner also shared several photos of the final sound mixing session, one of which included an intriguing screenshot from what is presumably a finale episode of The Legend of Korra season 3.
“We’re so proud of everyone who worked so hard to make Book 3 the best season of Korra yet,” DiMartino continued, leaving space for the Nickelodeon animated series fourth and final season to exceed his (and co-show runner Bryan Konietzko’s) storytelling achievements.
DiMartino also addressed what appears to be the perpetual elephant-monkey in the room where The Legend of Korra is concerned – a lack of release date for the upcoming season.
“I know you are all excited to watch,” he wrote. “Believe me, we’re excited to share it with you! I wish I could say I had some news about Korra’s release date, but I’m sorry to say I don’t.”
Fans of the Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel series are painfully experienced at waiting long stretches of time in between seasons. The second season of The Legend of Korra aired fifteen months after its first season finale, and much of the time was spent in radio silence from Nickelodeon.
Although “Book 2: Spirits” was met with mixed reviews, The Legend of Korra season 3 remains a hotly-anticipated television commodity. The show has typically had a strong presence at San Diego Comic-Con, and many fans are hopeful that an update will come at this year’s convention – if not before. Beyond a brief and accidental trailer, and several screenshots released by the show runners, fans once again remain bereft of information on The Legend of Korra season 3’s eventual return.
