No matter how many answers Pretty Little Liars gives us, we can always count on having more questions.
The Pretty Little Liars season 7 summer finale delivered a lot. There was a car crash, a stabbing, a shooting, and even a beheading. Of course, along with a few answers, the finale also delivered a lot of moments that made us question everything. Here are the 10 things we need to know right now! 1. How long have Noel, Jenna and Charlotte been working together?
The paths of these three characters keep getting more intertwined as Pretty Little Liars season 7 unfolds. Throw Sydney into the mix, and we’re more confused than ever. We know that Noel, Jenna and Charlotte have a long history together, since they all used to attend those weird Kahn parties, but have they really been scheming together the entire time?
Noel’s been involved in the A game since the Mona days, Jenna was heavily involved with Shauna, and Charlotte allegedly stole the game from Mona. Noel’s comment about Jenna teaching him and Charlotte how to smell fear confirms that they were all working together at some point, but their partnership could’ve started anywhere along the Pretty Little Liars timeline.
2. How did Mary Drake get pregnant with Spencer?
And yes, we understand the mechanics of how she got pregnant, but this question is deeper than simply, “who’s the baby daddy.” The most obvious answer is that Peter Hastings is Spencer’s father, as we’ve always known him to be. We already know he had an affair with Jessica DiLaurentis, and it would make sense for the Hastings’ to take the child if he was the biological father.
If he is the father, it’s unclear if he knew he was sleeping with Mary Drake, or if she somehow fooled him into thinking she was Jessica. She was in Radley at the time of her pregnancy, but people have snuck out before, so that’s not out of the question. If she did fool him, did she do it just to spite Jessica, or did she actually have feelings for Peter? If he did know it was Mary Drake, did he go to Radley for the occasion? Does Radley even allow conjugal visits?
If Peter’s not Spencer’s father, that will open up a whole new mystery about who her father could be, and if he’s potentially involved in the A game. Either way, this definitely complicates things. We still have no idea how Veronica and Melissa Hastings factor into the equation either. Veronica was obviously an accomplice in the adoption, and subsequent cover-up, and Melissa probably knows something about it.
3. How did Noel get untied?
Exactly two people knew where Noel was being held hostage — Hanna Marin and Mona Vanderwaal. It’s possible that not even Noel, himself, knew exactly where he was when he finally gained consciousness. There are only three options we can think of, for how he got loose. Noel either simply got free of the ropes, he figured out where he was, was able to contact Jenna, and she let him loose, or, god forbid, Mona freed him.
4. Who dragged Jenna away from the school?
This isn’t exactly a new question, since we’ve been wondering who A.D. is since the Liars got their first text outside the Lost Woods Resort. However, new information demands that the question be posed again. We ruled out three of the biggest suspects in the Pretty Little Liars season 7 summer finale. Noel and Jenna were involved, but not the masterminds, and Mary Drake… well, we still don’t know what she’s up to, but she wasn’t the person who took Jenna.
Whoever A.D. is, they were hiding somewhere in the school for the blind, during the finale. They let Noel and Jenna handle things at first, but when Jenna was knocked out, they stepped in. Obviously, Jenna’s safety was more important to them than making sure the Liars didn’t get away. That seems like a big clue, but maybe it’s not, since Jenna doesn’t even know who the person is!
5. Why was Mary Drake at the school?
The school that the Liars were lead to seemed like a small place, at first, but it must’ve been bigger than we thought because it seems like everyone was hiding in there! Mary Drake stayed suspiciously silent until Spencer was in immediate danger. Was she there the entire time, or did she get there just in time to save Spencer. How did she find them? Is she tracking either the Liars, or the A team? Or, is she connected to A.D., herself?
6. What happened to Toby and Yvonne’s car?
This one may have actually been answered by the Pretty Little Liars showrunner, Marlene King, in an interview with Variety. When asked if we should be suspicious about the car crash, she said, “there was definitely nothing nefarious going on there.” Whether we believe her, or not, is the question.
It would be odd for Toby and Yvonne to get into a potentially fatal car crash on the same night that the A team was at large. Maybe they factor into A.D.’s grand plan, and he/she didn’t want them getting away. How, and why, A.D. ran them off the road is something we can’t answer quite yet, but we’re not ruling out the possibility of foul play, no matter what Marlene King says.
7. Who shot Spencer?
At first, this one looked like a no brainer. Jenna had the gun in her hand, so she’s obviously the person who shot Spencer, right? Well, her question to A.D. complicated things a bit. She asked, “did you shoot Spencer?” Of course, she could just be asking if A.D. managed to finish the job that Jenna, herself, started, but maybe, she was actually wondering who shot her the first time. Maybe, Jenna never pulled the trigger at all!
8. Are Spencer, Toby and Yvonne really dead?
This one will probably be the most difficult to live with while we wait for April 2017. The lives of two of our favorite Pretty Little Liars characters (and one that’s kind of cool, I guess), may have been ended in the summer finale!
We’re pretty sure that Spencer will be safe. Mary Drake just dropped a huge bombshell on her, so we need to see her deal with that. Also, we just can’t lose Spencer. For Toby and Yvonne, things are less certain. This will likely go one of two ways.
If Toby dies, Spencer will have to deal with the tragedy of losing him. Their goodbye kiss, and the text that Toby almost sent, would add impact to this scenario. Alternatively, Yvonne will die, and Spoby will ride off into the sunset. It really all depends on how much the Pretty Little Liars writers want to torture us!
9. Is Archer really the father of Alison’s baby?
Remember when Emily’s frozen eggs were stolen? What if they ended up inside Alison! This has been a popular fan theory for a while, and it could finally be coming to fruition. A.D. could’ve fertilized Emily’s eggs and implanted them inside Alison while she was in Welby.
Admittedly, this would be bizarre, even for Pretty Little Liars. However, what better way to bring Emison together than with a little family of their own. It wouldn’t even be that much worse than Alison having Archer’s child… right? Also, Emily stared at that fake baby for way too long at the school. It could’ve just been a way for her to forget her phone, but maybe, it was some serious foreshadowing.
10. What will happen to Ezria?
Woah. We really thought we were in the clear with that Nicole thing. But, of course, she’s alive. We were just as conflicted as Aria when the elated Nicole ran into Ezra’s arms. She finally got engaged to the love of her life, and now the girl who he fought for so long to get over is back.
Ezra’s love for Nicole definitely doesn’t negate the love that he has for Aria, or the commitment he made to her, but it will certainly complicate things. Will Ezria work through this insane situation, or will the door be left open for Aria to pursue another love interest? I hear Jason is single…
