ABC Family took to Twitter to release the first official poster for the new season of Pretty Little Liars. Check out the image and some of our theories about what it could mean.

Up until this point there hasn’t been much official material for the upcoming season of Pretty Little Liars. At the beginning of the month the first promo was released, and since then there has only been a handful of information given out, including casting news and some spoilers.

After patiently waiting since season 4 ended in March, we were finally rewarded by ABC Family on Twitter with the unveiling of the new season 5 poster.

If we analyze the poster a bit, we can see that each of the five masks clearly represents one of the main girls. The one in the center, presumably representing Ali, has a large, spidery crack running through half of it.

This crack could represent a number of different things. For one, it could represent Ali’s sanity beginning to head south. After all, a girl can only be in hiding for so long without going a bit crazy. It could also allude to the walls Ali has put up around herself beginning to crumble and all of her secrets being revealed.

We don’t know for sure what the imagery could mean, but we have a feeling we’re closer than ever to finally getting the answers we’ve been waiting for.

The season 5 premiere is only two weeks away, so we can expect lots of promotional material to pop up as June 10 nears.

What do you think the new poster could mean?

Pretty Little Liars premieres Tuesday, June 10 at 8 p.m. eastern/standard on ABC Family.
