On last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars season 5, episode 8, “Scream For Me,” Zach proves to be not such a great guy and Hannah gets the blame for all of the problems. Check out our full recap for the episode here.

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars began with a reminder that the girls do, in fact, attend high school classes. You’re not fooling us, though, we know this whole high school thing is a charade.

Ali isn’t participating in chorus class along with everyone else because she is busy being questioned by Detective Tanner. Does Ali really think this paper thin story is going to throw a detective off of her trail?

Ali heads back into class and when she comes in she finds her sheet of music has been vandalized. All of the “A” notes have been circled and a message was left that read “Glad to hear you singing. The last time you were all choked up.”

The girls are catching onto Hannah’s drinking issues when after class they discuss the stench of homelessness wafting from her locker. They also talk the importance of lying to the cops and supporting Ali’s kidnapping story. Good move.

Emily tries to do some Hannah damage control by talking to Sydney about Hannah’s drunken confession. Sydney definitely believed Emily about Hannah making up being in New York. But none of that matters because Emily is now the assistant coach of the swimming team! Was anyone else just blankly staring at their televisions? We thought assistant coach positions were for, you know, coaches.

Mr. DiLaurentis is going out of town so it is up to Ali to find a place to crash. Good idea, leave your daughter alone for four days. It’s not like she was just “kidnapped” or anything like that. Ali decides to pick Hannah’s house as her place of choice. Is this some sort of sick way for Ali to send Hannah into an even darker hole?

After school at Spencer’s house, she and Toby are looking over the Bethany Young drawings from Radley when Toby decides to drop a bit of a bombshell. He’s enrolled in the police academy! Spencer isn’t exactly happy about it but we think it’s an awesome idea. Besides the fact that it’ll be good to have someone on the inside, being a police officer really seems to fit Toby. Good for him for trying to make a difference instead of just standing by.

Aria, who decides to skip out on Maid of Honor duties, heads to Radley for her afternoon shift. She tries to place the sketchbook back in its rightful place but is caught by Rhonda. But it turns out to be a good thing since Rhonda spills some details on her old roommate. The scoop on Bethany is that Jessica used to sign Bethany out of Radley all of the time to go on outings. Was Bethany Jessica’s daughter? The twin theory is becoming even more likely now.

While this is all going down, Hannah is looking to grab some drunk food at The Brew. She runs into Zach who can recognize that she has been drinking. He starts rubbing her back and making creepy suggestive comments towards her. Hannah runs out and heads straight to Caleb’s. She drinks the night away and since she can’t drive home (good decision, Hannah!) she just decides to sleep in Caleb’s car. Classy.

The next morning, Ashley finds Ali in Hannah’s room when she should actually be in school. Ali is hysterical and saying that someone tried to break into the house the night before. If that were the case wouldn’t she have called someone?

Emily and Spencer head to the stables after school to find out more about Bethany Young since this is where Jessica used to take her to see her horse named Custard. As if out of a fairy tale they run into a cute stable boy named Declan. Okay, so he’s actually a riding instructor but seriously, where are all the bad looking people in this town? They have to be hiding them somewhere.

Declan remembers Jessica and Bethany and told a strange story about Bethany having a complete meltdown over Jessica wanting to be called “Aunt Jessie.” Obviously thinking this is weird, the girls stick around to snoop a bit in the stables. And apparently all roads lead to Melissa when they find Spencer’s sister’s riding helmet in one of the stalls. They can’t mull it over very long, though, because someone locks them in the stall and one of the horses starts getting out of control. We’re not exactly breaking a sweat over here since we all know none of the Liars are ever in any actual danger.

In another attempt at drunk eating Hannah is sitting alone in her car outside The Brew when Zach decides to pop over. He hits on Hannah again and this time he makes sure to give her his number. Hannah is officially creeped out and decides it’s time to tell Aria. Aria won’t have it, though, and basically calls Hannah the cause of all of their problems. This isn’t going to end well at all. We just wanted Ella to be happy, but no, that couldn’t happen.

Back at the Marin household, it is just Ali and Ashley alone in the house. The ladies are already on edge during the storm when they see the window is open and someone is in the house. The cops are called this time but the detective didn’t make it in time to catch the intruder.

Not to worry, we later find out it was just Noel the entire time staging a fake break-in for Ali. It’s so her story seems more convincing, or something along those lines.

We know we’ve seen Ali’s manipulation in the past but seeing it unfold before our eyes is quite unsettling. This girl is too smart for her own good and the other girls are beginning to see that as well.
