On tonight’s season finale of Pretty Little Liars, the girls band together against Ali to find out the truth and someone pays the price.

The season finale of Pretty Little Liars kicks off on Thanksgiving Day. It is outside of a crime scene and Ezra, Aria, Emily and Hanna are all there, clearly horrified. It appears that someone has been killed and there is a lot of blood. Emily’s phone rings and she gets a message that says, “It’s all your fault – A.” With that, the screen fades to black and it’s 36 hours earlier.

Mona is alone in her room when her mother informs her that the Liars are here to see her. The girls are there because they are ready to fight back and want to ask Mona to help them with Ali.

The next day at school Mona meets up with the girls and tells them about the lie detector test that Ali took. She also says that she thinks Alison is “A” and that the girls have always been the perfect candidates for being manipulated. They are interrupted when Cindy and Mindy come into the bathroom, so they all take off.

In a few quick romantic scenes, we get the calm before the storm where the girls have nice moments with their significant others.

Paige goes up to Emily at her locker and basically says she doesn’t want to not be together anymore and they finally kiss. The teenage angst!

In Ezra’s apartment, he and Aria are making pumpkin pie since he got the big Thanksgiving invite to Aria’s house for the holiday. These are big steps for the couple and there is even bantering about grandma farts. Like we said, romantic.

At the Hastings’ house Spencer is flipping through an old photo album of her and her friends when a very sexy man in a police uniform shows up. Yes, that is Toby and may we say, “Hubba, hubba!” It is the day of his graduation from the police academy and he wants her to come. He’s such a fool for thinking she’ll be able to make it.

All right, back to the less cute stuff.

Lucas goes to the police station and pretends that he wants to sign up for the student liaison program. When he has a free moment he plugs something into one of the computers. We find out Mona is hiding out in the police station bathroom and they are hacking into the files in order to get Ali’s lie detector results.

Mona brings the files to Spencer’s house where the girls are all watching the footage. We find that all Ali really revealed to the cops was that she found out about Spencer’s drug problem and that she didn’t kill Bethany Young. Mona believes that the police are really after Spencer and Caleb confirms it when he hacks into the police report.

Spencer suggests that they all head back to Radley in order to find out as much as they can about Bethany.

That night they all play different roles. Emily’s job is to distract Ali, Caleb and Hanna are on surveillance, and Spencer and Mona dress up as nurses. It seems like a small place so it’s a bit of a reach that no one would recognize either of them.

From outside Hanna and Caleb can see Holbrook enter Radley and it doesn’t take him long to find Aria “teaching” an art class. He starts to grill her about her work at Radley and makes remarks laden with subtext about Spencer.

At Emily’s house, Em is doing her best to keep Ali there. Emily goes up to make some tea but quickly turns around and sees Ali searching through her phone. Ali acts extremely hurt when she sees a conversation about her being “A,” but at the same time she doesn’t exactly deny it.

Back at Radley, Spencer and Mona are going through files and Spencer discovers that Mrs. DiLaurentis was having an affair with Bethany’s father and that Ali knew Bethany this whole time.

Meanwhile, Toby is trying to get in touch with Spencer because it is his graduation. He finally gets in touch with her, but as he is looking down at his phone Spencer can hear him get in an accident. Cut to a commercial and we’re calling another bluff; there’s no way Toby is dead.

It’s Thanksgiving Day again and the girls are at The Brew talking about Toby even though he is literally two feet away sitting in a wheelchair with a broken leg. Paige shows up and tells them that she followed Ali to a field with Cindy and Mindy and that it looks like Ali is building an army. When did this become a Game of Thrones crossover?

None of this matters, though, because Holbrook comes in and arrests Spencer for the murder of Bethany Young.

At Mona’s house she says a quick goodbye to her mom and says she’ll meet her a bit later. She goes to call Aria to explain that Ali is definitely “A” and she has proof. We see a blonde in a black hoodie pick the lock on the front door and Mona turns around to see the unidentified blonde in her room. We hear a scream and the next thing we see are the girls walking into a blood-covered foyer.

We are back at the beginning of the episode and Holbrook announces that even though they found no body, the amount of blood proves that Mona has been murdered.

The very ending scene proves just that when we see Mona’s dead body in the back of “A’s” car.
