In an effort to gain even more excitement before the season 5 premiere of Pretty Little Liars, today the internet learned that the hit show would be renewed for two more seasons.

Season 5 of Pretty Little Liars has just premiered, and while the episode was jam packed with reveals, the biggest news came several hours before the premiere when ABC Family announced they were renewing the show for two more seasons. While we didn’t expect the mystery to be winding down anytime soon, a two-season advance does put a lot of faith in the show.

Tom Ascheim, the ABC Family president, released a statement saying, “Pretty Little Liars has taken its place in the zeitgeist and reigns supreme in pop culture. I am glad to bring another two seasons to our audience because ‘A’ has a lot in store for our Liars.”

The sixth and seventh seasons are set to air in mid-2015 and mid-2016, respectively. Don’t get us wrong, we love Pretty Little Liars, but we wonder how the show is going to be able to stay fresh through 2016. Maybe by that time the girls will finally have finished high school. We won’t bet on it, though.

We understand the popularity of the show for ABC Family (being the top series in the network’s history in both total viewers and target demo), but there comes a point that quality story lines get sacrificed in order to drag a series out longer. Only time will tell how the writers decide to move forward, but we hope they find a way to incorporate some new mysteries into the mix.

Are you excited that we’ll be getting 2 more seasons of ‘Pretty Little Liars’?
