In this week’s Pretty Little Liars episode “Misery Loves Company” fans were left with more questions than answers about Toby (Keegan Allen) and Spencer’s (Troian Bellisario) relationship and Meredith’s (Amanda Schull) actions.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producers Oliver Goldstick and Marlene King along with Bellisario answered questions about what’s next for the fan-favorite couple Spoby. The two praised the fans’ unwillingness to accept Toby’s evilness and do not rule out the possibility of the couple getting back together, saying, “They’re certainly challenged. They’re not back together yet, but they’re certainly challenged. They’re deeply challenged by this.”

As Hypable previously highlighted, tension will engulf the Pretty Little Liars team. Goldstick revealed that Spencer will take Toby’s decision hard and will realize the danger of the information, saying, “She fears that knowledge can be a dangerous thing — even a little bit of knowledge. So it’s a very tricky thing — it’s like having a hand grenade in your locker. It’s like you don’t know if you slam your locker too hard, you don’t know what it’s going to do to the rest of the school. That’s how I treat it. They’ll know eventually — they have to, it’ll come out.” Although in the Pretty Little Liars universe it is common for the girls to confide in one another, it is unclear when they will find out about Toby’s betrayal with King only saying that they will know before mid-March.

Also, expect to see the A team enlarge and don’t be fooled into thinking that Mona (Janel Parrish) is completely in charge.

In terms of Meredith’s betrayal, Schull revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that Meredith was motivated by Byron in terms of locking Aria (Lucy Hale) in the basement. Her immediate fate will be revealed in the next episode.

What did you think of this episode? Do you think Meredith’s actions will serve to drive Byron (Chad Lowe) and Aria closer? What did you think of Toby’s betrayal?
