Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 8, took us all the way back to Rosewood High, which has somehow gotten even scarier.

They’re really, really putting everything they have into this “Noel Kahn is A.D.” red herring, aren’t they. As Pretty Little Liars fans, we know that the only person who definitely isn’t the culprit, is whoever the Liars are the most suspicious of. These girls try their best, but unfortunately, they’re just always wrong.

So, given all the evidence that points to Noel Kahn being A.D., we know he’s most likely innocent. However, we still need to closely examine the evidence presented in Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 8, “Exes and OMGs,” for clues about what it is he could be up to.

The first Noel Kahn push in this episode came in the form of Hanna’s dream. The Liars (and Caleb) were walking around the Rosewood square when Noel hit Caleb with his car, smiling menacingly. This dream mostly served as a catalyst for Hanna’s paranoia, but we also finally learned Noel’s secret from Alison!

Apparently, Noel was the one who pushed the sorority girl down the stairs. You know, the one who served as a reason to suspect so many other people in Pretty Little Liars season 1. First of all, 10 points to [insert your Hogwarts house here] for whoever can tell me how the Liars knew about this when the secret was revealed inside Hanna’s head. Second of all, if Noel pushed the girl on purpose, and then somehow paid her family off, he is seriously evil. A.D. or not.

The second event that screamed, “hey guys, I think Noel’s A.D., look over here,” in this episode, was the return of Mrs. Grunwald! Did her eyes get more blue? I really think they got more blue. It’s been too long since we’ve had her creepy, yet strangely calming presence on Pretty Little Liars.

She came to town with a warning about a “darkness” around Hanna and Caleb. This could either mean that the darkness is around Hanna and Caleb specifically, or simply that she is more in tune with them because of Caleb’s time in Ravenswood. She also proposes that the dark presence has a connection to the Radley. This could also mean one of two things. Either they are connected to the hotel in some way, or they were connected to the sanitarium.

Even though there are plenty of other possible suspects, Mrs. Grunwald points us in Noel’s direction as well, and she’s a little tougher to ignore than Hanna’s subconscious mind. Hanna’s torture was revisited a few times in Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 8, and this specific time seemed to place the blame squarely in Noel’s hands. The sorority girl incident proved he was evil, but if he had a hand in torturing Hanna, that’s a whole other level of villain.

The third and final attempt at making us believe that Noel Kahn is A.D. came in a simpler form. Alison took charge and stole his file from the principal’s office, and it had a fun little note from A.D. written inside. The clue wasn’t great, since they have no idea if it was even Noel who wrote it, but the scene was one of my favorites. It was the first time in a while that I’ve felt like Ali was an equal part of the Liars’ squad, and was helping out the team.

With all of the evidence at her disposal, we can’t really blame Hanna for going rogue. She is dead set on catching Noel Kahn, and she’s enlisting the help of some unknown figure to do it. It could be Mrs. Grunwald, whom she spoke to earlier in the episode, but she isn’t exactly what I think of when I picture Hanna’s partner in crime. Lucas and Mona come to mind, as they’re both unconditionally supportive of Hanna. Mary Drake is also a possibility, as the “keys” could’ve been for the Lost Woods Resort.

While Noel probably isn’t A.D., he’s definitely up to something. In past seasons, his involvement was an effort to keep his secret covered up. However, Alison made it seem like that secret was no longer an issue, so his motives must have changed. It’s possible that he is Mary Drake’s second child, or for some reason just really cares who is. Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 9, is titled, “The Wrath of Kahn,” so it shouldn’t be long before we find out!

The only piece of non-Kahn related evidence we got in Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 8, was during Sparia’s adventure. That being said, Noel may still have been the one responsible for destroying Dr. Cochran Jr.’s office.

We didn’t learn a lot from Sparia’s conversation with Dr. Cochran Sr., but there was a very eerie tone to the scene. I feel like there’s still so much of Radley to be uncovered, and this conversation made me wish that the show was centered around the sanitarium even more so than it is now.

Dr. Cochran did provide two tidbits about Mary Drake’s second child, who he delivered. The first was that they were initially placed in the custody of Family Services. As for the second, he didn’t remember if they were a boy or a girl, just that they were “underweight and tenacious.” After last episode, I was completely behind the theory that Spencer is Mary Drake’s second child, but this statement made me second guess that.

Underweight and tenacious seems pretty synonymous with small and mighty, which is basically Aria’s tagline. She was already a top contender for the role of Alison’s next cousin, but Dr. Cochran’s comment definitely added some more weight to that theory.

In shipping news, Emily was really working the room in this episode of Pretty Little Liars. She had scenes with Alison, Sabrina, and even Paige! Paige McCullers is back in Rosewood, interviewing for the same coaching job as Emily. It also looks like she may have come back in hopes of getting back together with Miss Fields. We learned that they haven’t been broken up for as long as we thought. They actually lived together in California before Emily’s dad died!

Before Emily found out she had competition, she checked with Alison to see if it would be okay to apply, since it would mean they’d be coworkers. Alison said yes, because, obviously. The reason why Emily even asked is unclear. It’s possible that Rosewood High School has a rule against teachers dating each other, and that’s what she was getting at, but if Ezra and Aria were able to hide their relationship for as long as they did, they’d probably be fine

Even with Alison’s approval, Emily might want to think twice about taking that job, though. The students at Rosewood High School are horrible! How were they not expelled for that hoodie prank on Alison? The Liars had an absolute dream of a high school experience compared to having to deal with these little monsters.

There were two kisses I was very thankful for in Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 8. The one that didn’t happen between Hanna and Caleb (it’s just not time yet), and the one that did happen between Ezra and Aria. As jarring as the Nicole news was for Ezra, Aria’s intentions were good. Hopefully they’ll fully resolve things soon, whether Nicole’s alive or not.

The last few shots of Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 8, were very angsty, but also may have revealed something important. Spencer was looking through her family photo album, and stopped on a picture of a newborn baby. I doubt it reveals anything concrete about any suspicious parentage, as the Hastings wouldn’t be that careless, but she could be considering the possibility that she’s Mary Drake’s child!

As a final note, let’s just take a moment to squeal over Aria’s wedding dress *squeal*, and wonder how the hell she got that with one day’s notice *sigh*. That’s all.
