Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 6, answered all of our questions right before hitting us with 50 more.

Pretty Little Liars left a lot of annoying loose ends open before the hiatus, and season 7, episode 6, “Wanted: Dead or Alive,” tried its best to service all of them. Regarding our questions from the previous episode, the answers were actually pretty satisfying. However, it wouldn’t be Pretty Little Liars if they didn’t open up a whole new set of convoluted plot lines for us to stress over!

The episode also featured some really great bonding moments. Some episodes with too many relationship moments feel boring, or like they were put in for filler, but these moments were worth the break in the action. Every conversation that took place between the core group of characters served to strengthen relationships and wrap up senseless character drama. The group should now be in a really good place going into the end of the summer season, which is exciting.

Things could have gotten really bad when Alison discovered that her friends turned her in for allegedly murdering her sister. Say what you will about Alison, but a person should only have to deal with so much! She’s definitely shown her vengeful side in the past, but she handled this news like a champ. She quickly accepted Spencer’s explanation (perhaps a little too quickly), and moved on. They’re all she has, so she can’t really push them away entirely, but I do wonder if/how she can fully trust them after that.

That being said, Alison’s lucky that she did decide to forgive her friends. With everything going on, she kind of needed them in Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 6. The Archer Dunhill plot is thickening and it’s putting everyone in danger. Hanna and the girls are worried that their secret is known, but it looks like Alison and possibly Mary Drake are in more immediate, physical danger.

A British voice is threatening Hanna on the phone, and a masked “police officer” is threatening Alison! Thanks to Rosewood P.D. doing what they do best, she almost didn’t make it out alive. I really do believe that Archer is dead, so this masked offender could be anyone (Wren?). Mary Drake was probably the safest of anyone in Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 6, but for some reason she feels the most threatened. We’ll have to wait to see if her suspicions will be realized in the rest of the season.

After the beautiful, yet somehow equally unsatisfying, Ezria proposal in the last episode, we got what I’m referring to as “the real #PLLProposal.” Even without the candles and the cute similes, this proposal was the better one. After Aria finally confided in Ezra about the things she’d been involved in (don’t you just love when people actually tell the truth on this show), they both realized that they still desperately wanted to be together. Both proposals suited their relationship well, but the emotion in this one was just so much more honest and heartwarming.

The one concerning thing about this turn in the Ezria saga is the mysterious Nicole phone call. We don’t know exactly what Aria told Ezra, but I’m betting she left that part out, whether she meant to or not. Evidently, that phone call wasn’t the reason that she “needed to think about” Ezra’s first proposal, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be an issue down the road for them.

There were so many great friendship moments in Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 6, and Aria’s conversation with Hanna about their respective engagements was one of my favorites. I love how no matter what, these girls will drop everything to be there for each other. Hanna came running as soon as Aria said she needed advice (at least she was about to before A.D. called) and they came clean to each other about everything in their love lives. Again, this was one of those rare, refreshing episodes where people were actually being honest with each other.

Spanna also had their moment in the sun. Maybe you were happy to see Caleb return, or maybe you wish he had moved back to Ravenswood, but one thing we can all agree on is that we’re happy Spencer and Hanna are back on track. Troian Bellisario’s performance in her scene with Caleb was stunning and it completely broke my heart, but I fully believe that Spencer will be okay. When Hanna came clean about breaking up with Jordan, Spencer even suggested that Hanna tell Caleb! This girl just keeps amazing me every week. Also, the mysterious Spanna dream came up in the conversation, so they’re trying to make sure we don’t forget about it (like we could ever).

Just because Spaleb is probably over it doesn’t mean that Haleb will necessarily be making a come back. It’s possible that the show damaged Caleb’s character too much during this awkward love triangle for him to actually return and be with one of our leading ladies. Also, there were some strong Hanna/Lucas vibes during that phone call! She says that Caleb makes her feel safe, but Lucas is the one giving her a place to stay and the opportunity of a life time. Hanna’s romantic future definitely isn’t clear yet.

Now, on to the three blind, burnt and beautiful mice. We still don’t know what Jenna’s involvement in the A.D. operation is, but we did learn a lot about what she’s been up to. Apparently, she knew Archer long before he came to Rosewood and she actually helped him come to America so he could be with Charlotte. How did she meet Archer? How did Archer meet Charlotte? Those interesting little tidbits are still completely unknown.

So much was revealed about what Charlotte really knew about Archer (everything), and Jenna’s involvement in the scheme. The fact that Charlotte knew she wasn’t really being treated opens up the question about what her intentions were upon release. Does Jenna care about Charlotte’s death, Archer’s death, or both? Is she, or has she ever been, in contact with Mary Drake? Did she have Sara killed for caring about Emily?…Oh yeah, Sara is dead! Forgive my lack of sorrow, but I know you’re all with me.

Although Sara will be missed by exactly zero people, she may have shown some redeeming qualities to Emily in Pretty Little Liars season 7, episode 6. In the last episode, we assumed that Sara, Jenna and Noel were all equal partners in their strange little quest, but now it’s looking like Sara was more of a slave to Jenna’s will.

Sara kept repeating to Emily that she was trying to keep her safe, and Jenna didn’t like that one bit. She cut her off just as Sara was about to tell Emily who she should really be afraid of. Could she have been referring to Noel? Mr. Kahn was mysteriously absent during this episode, and Sara’s change in demeanor between last episode and now could be explained by Noel being more of a force than she anticipated.

The final shot of the episode was of A.D. in their arts and crafts studio with all their masks. They also had a box of Charlotte’s books and a box labelled “letters (something illegible) A.D.” Which brings me to…
