The Originals season 2, episode 20, “City Beneath the Sea” is our first glance at a Klaus-daggered world, and we’re not sure it will be quite the same.

When The Originals do a thing, they really do it, and that includes sidelining a brother that wasn’t exactly a team player. They’ve been talking all season about this dagger to put Klaus down, and we never thought we’d see the day he was out of commission, but alas, the day has arrived.

As to whether it’s the smart move or not, that remains to be seen. Klaus is nothing if not formidable in battle, and if warring with Dahlia gets too dirty, they may miss their hybrid brother’s special skills.

Check out the synopsis, sneak peeks, and stills from tonight’s episode and make sure to let us know what you think a Klaus-free world will be like. Our money is on some version of ‘totally weird.’

Synopsis

“LOOMING DEADLINES AND ENTICING PROPOSITIONS — When Dahlia (guest star Claudia Black) devises a clever way to get Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) attention, she reveals some startling details about baby Hope and leaves him with an enticing proposition to consider. Elsewhere, while Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Freya (guest star Riley Voelkel) find themselves with opposing views on how best to handle Dahlia’s looming deadline, Rebekah (guest star Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Davina (Danielle Campbell), and Cami (Leah Pipes) work together to come up with their own strategy. Meanwhile, following a tense stand-off between Elijah and Jackson (guest star Nathan Parsons) in the bayou, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is left to make a difficult decision about her and Hope’s future. Finally, Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), who is eager to leave his witch past behind him, approaches Davina with an offer that leaves her intrigued.”

Sneak Peeks

Elijah pays Cami a visit and she lets him in on the truth that Klaus didn’t kill Aiden like they all thought. She seems understanding as well as a little worried about Klaus’ daggered self, which has us wondering if her feelings for the man have bubbled back up to the surface after their charming afternoon the day before.

Marcel almost literally drags Rebekah into the safe haven Elijah set up last episode for Hope and Hayley. She is very unhappy about being hauled away from the upcoming battle to be kept safe, but Marcel reminds her that more than her life is at stake if she’s wounded or killed.

What do you think Elijah and company have planned to defeat Dahlia with Klaus out of commission?
