In October we learned that Pottermore had decided to cancel their plans to open the site to the public that month. A new release date had not been set, and today we’re learning we’re still not close to one.

The Guardian reached out to Pottermore about a potential public opening to which they were told, “we have decided to further extend the beta period so we can improve Pottermore before giving more people access. This means the site will not be opening to new users in the immediate future.”

This isn’t necessarily a change in stance so much as a reminder that Pottermore still has not set – or at least is not ready to reveal – an opening date. Presumably they have a timeframe in mind internally for the public launch and the release of Chamber of Secrets.

A month ago I wrote about and asked for thoughts on how Pottermore is standing up with those who HAVE had access for several months. We received many comments on the matter.

Thanks to MuggleNet for the tip.
