A little behind the scenes news today: Pottermore’s interim CEO has been replaced by a new person who spoke today about taking on the role.

The Bookseller reports that executive vice-president and chief digital officer at HarperCollins Charlie Redmayne has been appointed Pottermore CEO:

Pottermore chairman Neil Blair described Redmayne as “a formidable talent in both the digital and publishing spheres”, saying that this, combined with Redmayne’s “entrepreneurial spirit”, made him the ideal appointment for the role.

Redmayne called Pottermore “a hugely exciting project which will take one of the greatest brands in literature into a digital future”. The Harry Potter online site has been led through its launch by interim c.e.o. Ron Henwood, but Redmayne’s appointment is said to mark “the next phase of the project”.

Pottermore has recently suffered from a few issues. Their blog recently revealed that due to the “overwhelming demand,” the beta period would be extended and the launch of eBooks would be pushed into 2012.
