Pottermore announced on their Insider Blog today that the interactive website for Harry Potter fans is now available on digital tablets.

The announcement is significant because up until today Pottermore could only be used in a web browser on a computer. Now the site is accessible to the growing number of people who rely on tablets as their main computing devices.

Hypable tried out Pottermore on an iPad mini this afternoon and had a pleasant experience. Browsing and interacting with moments works in the same way it does on the computer complete with sound and simple animation. Every time you tap within a moment, an indicator shows you where you are placing your finger. We like this feature because it lets you see how responsive the site is.

Pottermore didn’t specifically outline what mobile browsers and devices the site now works on but said it’s compatible with “leading tablet devices.”

It’s worth noting that we gave the site a try on our iPhone too and it worked the same way it does on the tablet, but the smaller phone screen makes it a less-than-pleasant experience. However, if you have the itch for some Pottermore and don’t have a tablet or computer near by, you can rest easy knowing you can now access it via your smart phone.

Before his departure, Pottermore CEO Charlie Redmayne said that one of their goals was to get the service on as many platforms as possible. Making Pottermore accessible to mobile computer users is a big step forward.

The website is in the midst of unveiling all of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

We encourage those running Android and other mobile operating systems (on smart phones) to hit the comments and let us know how the site works!
