Speaking at PaidContent 2012, Pottermore CEO Charlie Redmayne spoke about many business elements of Rowling’s interactive website.

We watched the full Q&A to grab some new information for you. While Redmayne didn’t say much that was new, at one point he was asked what other brands could possibly create an experience similar to Pottermore’s:

[Rowling] sold 5 billion cinema tickets. There are only 7 billion people on earth. There aren’t a lot of brands like Harry Potter. But if I’m looking at brands, I’m looking at people like Tolkien. I’m looking at hugely impressive book sales figures with brands like The Hunger games. You could do similar things with. In terms of creating multi-platform digital propositions, there are lots of people you could do it with.

Earlier on in the interview, Redmayne emphasized that he wants Pottermore on any platform possible, including apps (for mobile devices) and in-seat entertainment (cars and/or flights, we presume).

Do you think a Lord of the Rings or Hunger Games site similar to Pottermore’s could be a success?
