An interesting new element has been added to Pottermore to add an extra level to the gameplay experience: Badges.

Depending on how far into Pottermore you are, by logging in to your Pottermore account today you may see up to three new notifications in the lower right side of the screen indicating you’ve earned particular badges.

These are the three we’ve discovered so far:

– Scarlet Engine: Complete Chapter 6 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone.

– Explorer: Explore every moment of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone.

– Discoverer: Discover five pieces of exclusive J.K. Rowling content in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone.

These badges are similar to those you can earn on social sites like Foursquare and GetGlue, where you are rewarded with virtual badges for completing particular tasks.

We’re sure more badges will continue to appear as additional chapters in Chamber of Secrets open.
