FX is gearing up to dim the lights on Pose. The groundbreaking drama’s upcoming season 3 will officially be its last.

The series took to its official Twitter account on Friday (March 5) to deliver the sad news to fans far and wide.

The tweet announcing that Pose will conclude with season 3 features a special video message from Steven Canals.

In the message, the executive producer and co-creator says that choosing to end Pose with its forthcoming third season was not a decision that was made lightly.

“It was a very difficult decision for us to make, but this has been an incredible journey, and we have told the story that we wanted to tell the way that we wanted to tell it,” says Canals in the video message.

From there, the co-creator went on to say that everyone involved with the groundbreaking series knows that it’ll be hard for fans to say goodbye. At the same time, Canals promises there’s still a lot to look forward to when it comes to the series’ third and final season.

“This season will be filled with all of the love, and laughter, and tears that you have come to expect from the Evangelista family,” continues Canals. “I, along with my incredible collaborators never intended on changing the television landscape. I simply wanted to tell an honest story about family, resilience, and love. We love you, and we hope that you’ll join us in celebrating this final season.”

Canals’ fellow Pose co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk also chimed in with separate statements of their own.

Murphy echoed Canals’ sentiments saying, “We got to tell the exact story we wanted, as we wanted to tell it, and I’m incredibly honored and grateful. Pose’s story may end in 1996, but its impact will go on forever.”

Added Falchuk: “I am more proud of this show than anything else I have created – or ever will create. I’m so grateful to have been a part of it.”
