Pom Klementieff from Guardians of the Galaxy is gearing up for the impossible as she joins the cast of Mission: Impossible.

Pom Klementieff won our hearts in the Marvel Universe as Mantis, and she wowed us in Black Mirror, and now it seems she’s about to join the wild world of espionage. Klementieff has been cast in the next Mission: Impossible movie.

As Variety reports, Klementieff was announced as the franchise’s latest cast member. Christopher McQuarrie, the writer and director of the next two Mission: Impossible movies as well as the writer and director of Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation and Fallout, announced the new appointment on his Instagram where he also said MI 7 and 8 would be shot back-to-back.

It’s unclear whether the plan is for Pom Klementieff to star in both Mission: Impossible 7 and 8, but since McQuarrie used the #MI78 hashtag in the casting announcement post, it makes sense that she would star in both. We don’t know much about her role at all, but judging by McQuarrie’s joke in the caption asking the French-speaking Klementieff how to say “femme fatale” in French, it makes sense that she’s going to be playing a true badass in the franchise.

Of course, Pom Klementieff isn’t the only member of the Marvel family joining the Mission: Impossible gang. It was previously announced that Agent Carter herself, Hayley Atwell, has also been cast in the next Mission: Impossible movie.

While early installments of the Mission: Impossible movies weren’t great when it came to the women featured in the movies (they largely stuck to the trope of a love interest for Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and maybe a femme fatale character working against him), they’ve been slowly getting better at including more women in the movies. Rebecca Ferguson was not only a true breath of fresh air as Ilsa Faust, but she was also the first major female character in the franchise to come back for a second movie.

So, we are very excited to see how exciting casting announcements like Pom Klementieff and Hayley Atwell in a Mission: Impossible movie. Unfortunately, with the movie just entering production, we have a bit of a wait on our hands.

For now, Paramount has Mission: Impossible 7 slated for release on July 23, 2021 and Mission: Impossible 8 is slated for a Aug. 5, 2022 release.
