The Pokémon universe will never be the same after the giant reveals during today’s Pokémon X and Pokémon Y E3 2013 showcase. And this is before the conference even starts!

Update: The E3 2013 Pokémon conference revealed even more Gen. VI Pokémon.

New Pokémon type

The new type unveiled by Nintendo is the Fairy type.

The Fairy type is strong against Dragon type Pokémon. Jigglypuff, Gardevoir, Marill, and the new Eeveelution Sylveon will all be Fairy types.

Official artwork of this new type in battle is demonstrated in this picture of Sylveon, a Fairy type, battling Hydreigon, a Dark/Dragon type.

New Pokémon

Noivern is Flying/Dragon, and uses a new attack called Boomburst.

Vivillon is Bug/Flying, and can learn the move Struggle Bug. It evolves from Spewpa, which has yet to be revealed.

There are also a few currently unnamed Pokémon.

New features of Gen VI

Sky battles will be a new type of battling that only Flying type Pokémon, along with those that know the ability Levitate, can participate it.

In the below screenshot, an in-game German character in the English version of Pokémon X and Y, asks the player if “they would like to participate in a sky battle” with her.

Lastly, the male player’s name is Xavier.

This is all very exciting news! It’s a refresher to not feel so in the dark anymore about so many things relating to the next generation of Pokémon!
