Exciting news coming from Pokémon Japan today! A new Pokémon character has been revealed for the Pokémon X and Y games coming out in October.

You can see the new Pokémon in action here:

The new Pokémon shares quite a few characteristics with Mewtwo. The obvious ones are its purple color, piercing eyes, and what looks like a bipedal body type. Whether it is a psychic type remains to be announced.

Speculation of a new Mewtwo form proved to be true when the director of Pokémon X and Y, Junchi Masuda, revealed the new Pokémon on Japan’s Pokémon Smash tv show.

While it’s obvious that this new creature looks like Mewtwo, there isn’t confirmation of the unofficially dubbed “MewThree” being either an evolution/form of Mewtwo, or whether or not it’s just a brand new Pokémon. The official Pokémon website says, “It is suspected that the newly discovered Pokémon has some sort connection with the legendary Mewtwo.”

What do you think about this new Pokémon? What does this mean for Pokémon X and Y if they’re bringing back old legendary Pokémon with a new twist for the new games?

Poké Chat, Hypable’s Pokémon podcast, will release a special episode tomorrow discussing this brand new information!
