Missing since the mobile game’s launch, the first Pokémon GO trade evolutions won’t cost any candy.

The first set of Pocket Monsters to benefit from the Pokémon GO trade evolutions update include Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, and Haunter.

Trade evolutions are a series standard function of the main series Pokémon games, and have been ever since the original 1996 releases of Pokémon Red and Blue for the Nintendo Game Boy. While players originally used a link cable to connect two Game Boy devices, the introduction of wireless trading in 2004 remakes Fire Red and Leaf Green revolutionized an important element of catching ’em all.

In the main series games, some Pokémon evolve under even more specific trading conditions, such as Onyx into Steelix when it’s holding a Metal Coat. It has yet to be seen how the Pokémon GO trade evolutions will handle held item Pocket Monster evolutions.

Ringing in some of the latest Unova ‘mons in GO include Boldore, Gurdurr, Karrablast, and Shelmet, along with Roggenrola, Tympole, Dwebble, Trubbish, and Joltik. Egypt and Greece will see a region exclusive release of Sigilyph, while the Eastern hemisphere will have Red-Striped Form Basculin, and the Western hemisphere will have Blue-Striped Form Basculin.

More regional variants include Maractus, which will be in the Southern United States, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. North America, South America, and Africa will focus on Fighting-Type Throh, while Europe, Asia, and Australia will see more Sawk (both are available in non-regional exclusive 10km eggs).

Speaking of eggs, Bug-Types Venipede and Dwebble will be in 2km eggs, Roggenrola, Tympole, Trubbish, Karrablast, Joltik, and Shelmet in 5km eggs, and Timburr, Tirtouga, Archen, and Axew in 10km eggs.

Unova Pokémon were introduced in a September 2019 Pokémon GO update. The fifth Generation Pokémon originally debuted in 2010 Nintendo DS games Pokémon Black and White.
