Pokémon Sword and Shield will have a lot of quality of life updates, making honing your team for competitive play that much easier.

Previously, breeding for Egg Moves in the Pokémon series was no easy feat. Now, Game Freak wants to ensure that players are able to get the moves they want much faster.

In a press release, The Pokémon Company states the following on Egg Moves. They write, “If two Pokémon of the same species are placed at a Pokémon Nursery together, an Egg Move that one them knows can be passed on to the other Pokémon.”

As for natures and stats, Sword and Shield will include candies that make maxing out stats all the easier. On top of the new exp. candies, stat mints will allow players to grow their Pokémon as if they had a specific nature, even if the ‘mon has another nature. The release clarifies that feeding a Pocket Monster any given nature mint will not actually change their nature, as it only mimics the growth effects of the nature via the mint.

In terms of smaller quality of life improvements, Game Freak has added the ability to feed your Pokémon more than one stat-boosting supplement at a time. Previously, players had to individually select the supplement, such as a Protein or Carbos, one by one. To speed up the process, players will be able to select multiples of any given supplement, just as they would when buying items in a store.

Lastly, the games will autosave at the start of towns and caves, but this feature can be turned off if players prefer to only manually save. As it was in Let’s Go, the PC Box is available anywhere players are, save for “mission areas where a Trainer takes on a Pokémon Gym.”

Pokémon Sword and Shield release for the Nintendo Switch on November 15, 2019.
