New games in the Pokemon series were announced today by series producer Junichi Masuda on the official Pokemon television program in Japan. (Now updated with western release window).
The game will be a sequel to Pokemon Black and Pokemon White. Both versions will release in June in Japan. International release dates have yet to be announced.
Surprisingly, Black and White 2 have been announced for the original DS instead of the 3DS.
No other details are available at this time.

Update: Nintendo of America has released a brief press release stating the Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 will be available sometime this fall in North America. A similar press release was released for the EU release.
