Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan watch as Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Papa Smurf attack the world in an alien invasion in the latest Pixels trailer.

Sony has released the second trailer for Pixels, which was directed by Chris Columbus, and based on a short film by Patrick Jean. There were some hints of Wreck-it Ralph in the first trailer, but it definitely has its own unique style, especially in the second trailer.

Starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan. Watch as the comedic cast try to defend the world from Donkey Kong and Pac-Man in Pixel’s first trailer.

When aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth using the games as models. Kevin James plays the President of the United States, and calls upon his childhood best friend, former 1980s video game champion Sam Brenner, who is portrayed by Adam Sandler.

Sandler is now a home theater installer, but had a previous relationship with Williams’ wife. The two lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) in an attempt to defeat the aliens and save the planet from King Kong and Pac-Man invasions. Yep, this a movie that’s actually been made.

The second trailer for Pixels reminds us that this movie might be what Sandler needs to right his career. It includes some other great actors, and the unique take on some of our favorite video game characters is an exciting idea.

Will our unlikely heroes be able to help save the planet from an alien invasion featuring popular video game characters? We’ll see when Pixels hits theaters July 24, 2015.
