According to a sometimes-accurate movie site, Pixar has been tasked with creating a new film in the world of Star Wars.

Latino Review says that they have “no idea what the size or shape of this film will be,” and warns that the film could still be a “long way off” given how much time Pixar takes to plan a story. “We can expect it to take place in the middle of a Venn Diagram between Star Wars and A Pixar Movie, and what that means to you depends on your definition of both,” they write.

The website reporting the news has had several successful scoops over the past few months, so their word can sometimes be trusted.

Then again, it may not come as a surprise that Disney wants Pixar to create a Star Wars movie. When the studio acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4 billion, everyone knew that the high cost meant Disney plans to earn their money back.

The studio is currently at work developing Episodes VII – IX, and the first film will hit theaters December 2015. There are also standalone movies in the works focusing on popular characters like Yoda and Boba Fett which may be released in the years between the Episode movies.

2014 is going to be a quiet year for Pixar because they will not release a new movie until 2015. The Good Dinosaur was scheduled to hit theaters this summer, but the film hit a production snag and was pushed to 2015. In turn, this pushed Finding Dory to 2016.

Pixar within the ‘Star Wars’ world: A good or bad idea?

Again, remember that this is “rumor” status for now.
