Several newly-leaked character descriptions indicate that casting is in full swing for Game of Thrones season 5.

Though fans are still anticipating the climax of Game of Thrones season 4, Winter Is Coming has caught wind of casting news for the fifth season of HBO’s epic fantasy drama. The unofficial list contains mentions of several characters vital to the story of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, on which Game of Thrones is based – though one or two pivotal players appear to be missing.

Perhaps the most important character mentioned is Doran Martell, older brother of this season’s breakout character, Oberyn Martell. The Prince of Dorne is described as a wheelchair-bound man in his 50’s, who is as thoughtful and deliberate as his younger brother is fiery and impulsive. Though a subtle and cautious man, Prince Doran is as powerful a player as the game of thrones has ever known.

One of Prince Doran’s children also appears on the list, though perhaps not the one which readers may anticipate. Trystane Martell – betrothed to Myrcella Baratheon – is slated to be cast in Game of Thrones season five.

However, Trystane’s older sister Arianne (the princess of Dorne, and heir to Doran) and his older brother Quentyn are not mentioned in this casting brief. Before fans begin to panic though, it is more than possible that these characters have already been cast, or that this particular list is incomplete.

In any case, the Martell family will certainly be expanding next season. The three oldest of Oberyn’s bastard daughters, nicknamed “the Sand Snakes,” all appear in the brief. Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene are all vastly different from each other, but all are equally deadly.

Other characters mentioned include Doran’s bodyguard Areo Hotah, the “High Sparrow” (a very different sort of High Septon,) Septa Unella, and a fortune teller called Maggy the Frog.

In addition, Bronn’s wife-to-be, Lollys Stokeworth will be cast, along with a slaver called Yezzan and a mysterious character dubbed “the Waif.”

Game of Thrones season 4 is taking a break for Memorial Day, but will resume with “The Mountain and the Viper” on Sunday, June 1 at 9:00 on HBO.
