More bad news for Pitch Perfect 3 as Elizabeth Banks exits as director! Luckily for fans, she will still have involvement in the film.

Pitch Perfect 3 is still in pre-production and recently Universal moved its release date from from July 21, 2017 to December 22, 2017. Now it’s been revealed by Variety that Elizabeth Banks is leaving the role of director, although she will still be staying on as a producers and reprise her role as Gail.

It’s believed that there’s no bad blood between Banks and Universal. Rather, Banks’t busy schedule was the main reason she couldn’t helm the film as director. As a fan it’s disappointing that Banks won’t be the director, however I’m glad to hear that she’ll still be a part of the project.

Pitch Perfect 3, which will star Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Brittany Snow is now on the hunt for a new director. With the success of the franchise there’s no doubt that directors will be lining up for the shot at the third installment. Hopefully Universal will make the right decision with who they select and I’d love to see another female director take on the role.

Although the plot for the film hasn’t been officially revealed, it’s believed that it will follow Hailee Steinfeld as the new leader of the Barden Bellas. How the former Bella’s are tied into the plot remains to be seen!

Who would you like to see direct ‘Pitch Perfect 3’?
