The Pitch Perfect 2 trailer has just been released starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Elizabeth Banks, and Hailee Steinfeld.
UPDATE: Check out this gorgeous new teaser poster which features Kendrick’s character Beca in the middle of her iconic “Cups” performance. She’s using a cup with the number “2” on it. Very appropriate:
Pitch Perfect was one of our favorite movies of 2012, and we’re eagerly awaiting its sequel.
Today we’ve finally gotten our first look at the film in this 2 1/2 minute Pitch Perfect 2 trailer. The preview begins with a stirring new version of “Cups” before we see that the girls are looking to compete in a worldwide a cappella tournament. Throughout the trailer we’re treated to more of that Bella humor that viewers fell in love with during the first movie.
We don’t learn what songs the ladies will be singing in this film, but it’s safe to say there will probably be many.
Nearly the entire Pitch Perfect cast has returned for the sequel, and there are many fresh faces as well. The film stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Skylar Astin, Elizabeth Banks, Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld, Katey Sagal, Alexis Knapp, Anna Camp, Hana Mae Lee, and Adam DeVine.
The first Pitch Perfect 2 poster also premiered this week. Fans are now known as “pitches”:
When Hailee Steinfeld (who can be seen briefly in the trailer above) joined the cast back in April, it was reported that she would take over the lead role if Pitch Perfect 3 happens. The threequel is no guarantee until this film performs well, but it’s interesting to get a glimpse of where the series will be heading.
Pitch Perfect 2 was directed by Elizabeth Banks, and it’s her feature length directorial debut. The screenplay was written by Kay Cannon, who also wrote the original film. This is a good sign that the film will likely be just as good as the original. Far too often screenwriters don’t stick with a franchise throughout different installments, so it’ll be great to see the consistency.
