Hot on the heels of a director announcement, Universal has set Pitch Perfect 2 for May 15, 2015.

Earlier this week the studio revealed that co-star Elizabeth Banks will direct Pitch Perfect 2. It will be the actress’ first time helming a feature film.

We’ve known for a while that Pitch Perfect 2 was aiming for a mid-2015 release, and today’s news shows that the studio is looking to kick the summer season off with a highly-anticipated sequel. We’re sure the covers performed in the movie will be on the playlists of viewers all season long.

Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are expected to return, but no cast members have been formally announced. The original Pitch Perfect told the story of a competitive a cappella group made up of several talented young ladies who struggle to win Nationals.

Plot details surrounding the sequel are still under wraps.

Universal also announced today that Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak will be released October 16, 2015 and a movie based on the board game Ouija will be released October 24, 2014.

A Pitch Perfect Christmas Album is reportedly in the works as well, according to one cast member. We suspect it’ll hit store shelves this holiday or next.

The original film stars Kendrick, Wilson, Skylar Astin, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Adam DeVine, Freddie Stroma, and Jinhee Joung.
