It wouldn’t be a Pitch Perfect sequel without Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick, so luckily the two leading ladies have officially signed on.
Though their return was expected, Paramount announced Thursday afternoon that the two actresses will return for Pitch Perfect 2.
Kendrick plays Beca, who started college life in the original Pitch Perfect and begrudgingly joins an a cappella group called The Bellas. One of the characters she meets in the group is Fat Amy, played by Wilson, who brings some of the biggest laughs to the story.
Beca and Fat Amy were two of the most important (and best) characters in the film, and the actresses are easily two of the most popular in the cast, so it’s no surprise that they’ll be leading the sequel.
Fans of Pitch Perfect know that there are many great supporting cast members. While no other roles except for Elizabeth Banks (who will likely reprise her role as an a cappella tournament commentator) have been confirmed yet, we think it’s safe to assume that many of them will be back.
Banks will also direct Pitch Perfect 2, making it the first time she’s helmed a feature film.
The movie is set to hit theaters May 15, 2015. A holiday album is also rumored to be in development.
Other cast members who rounded out the original cast – and may very well return – include Skylar Astin, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Adam DeVine, Freddie Stroma, and Jinhee Joung.
