Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has begun shooting in Australia. To mark the occasion, Disney’s confirmed a boat load of new information.

First, the studio has confirmed the film’s title is the long-rumored “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” a reference to the line heard in Disney’s iconic theme park ride.

Disney has also formally announced the cast of Pirates 5. Joining newly married Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow are newcomers Javier Bardem (Skyfall), Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner), and Brenton Thwaites (The Giver).

Pirates 5 will also welcome back old faces, including Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, and Stephen Graham as Scrum.

Notably, Orlando Bloom is not returning. The actor said in December that he was unsure about his involvement, and now it’s clear he’s not involved at all.

Finally, Disney’s unveiled Pirates of the Caribbean 5’s synopsis, which reveals that Jack Sparrow will find himself in search of the Trident of Poseidon: “Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.”

Pirates 5 is directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki) and penned by Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).

How do you think ‘Pirates 5’ sounds so far?

The fifth installment is slated for a release in July 2017, so we’ll be waiting awhile before we get to see Sparrow looking for that trident. The film was originally set for 2015 before being pushed back to 2016 and then again to 2017.

Dead Men Tell No Tales will arrive six years after the last installment, 2011’s On Stranger Tides.
