Brenton Thwaites is reportedly in talks to join Pirates of the Caribbean 5, alongside Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be the fifth outing in Disney’s massive franchise featuring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. As with the previous sequel, the studio is looking to add new actors to the cast in an attempt to keep fans interested.

The Wrap reports that Brenton Thwaites is set to play a key role in Pirates 5, and will star alongside Johnny Depp. Thwaites was most recently seen in The Giver film adaptation, and was also recently in Maleficent as the young Prince opposite Angelina Jolie.

Brenton Thwaites is reportedly playing a British soldier named Henry, who should be a key part of the film with Johnny Depp at the helm once again. The Pirates franchise is becoming a bit stale, but they bring in massive box office numbers, so the studio will continue to churn them out as long as Depp is willing to put the pirate outfit on.

In related news, reports suggest that Javier Bardem will be playing a major role in the film as well, most likely enjoying another villainous role in the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean. He may be playing Captain Brand, a ghost who is looking for revenge against Jack who he believes is responsible for the death of his brother.

Jack Sparrow is almost always enjoyable to watch on the big screen, and with some new, young blood like Thwaites joining the cast we imagine Disney is on the right path to making this a bit better than the previous Pirates film. We’ll look for more confirmation from both Thwaites and Bardem’s camps in the coming weeks.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to hit theaters July, 2017.
