The upcoming Beatles documentary The Beatles: Get Back from famed director Peter Jackson has set an official September release date.

During Disney’s annual general meeting of shareholders, executive chairman Bob Iger revealed that the release date for Peter Jackson’s Beatles documentary The Beatles: Get Back will be September 4, 2020.

Peter Jackson will be giving Beatles fans a treat in his documentary by including footage from studio sessions that have never been seen or heard before. The film will also feature the Beatles’ final live performance on a rooftop in London. According to Bob Iger, the restored footage was “spectacular” and “it looks like it was shot yesterday.”

In addition to the studio sessions and performance, the film will likewise take from 55 hours of in-studio footage that was shot in early 1969 for the 1970 feature film Let It Be.

In a statement about the film, Peter Jackson said that working on the project had been a “joyous discovery” and that he’d been privileged to “be a fly on the wall while the greatest band of all time works, plays and creates masterpieces. I’m thrilled that Disney has stepped up as our distributor. There’s no one better to have our movie seen by the greatest number of people.”

Beatles frontman Paul McCartney said, “I am really happy that Peter Jackson has delved into our archives to make a film that shows the truth about The Beatles recording together. The friendship and love between us comes over and reminds me of what a crazily beautiful time we had.”

Ringo Starr added, “I’m really looking forward to this film. Peter Jackson is great and it was so cool looking at all this footage. There was hours and hours of us just laughing and playing music, not at all like the version that came out. There was a lot of joy and I think Peter will show that. I think this version will be a lot more peace and loving, like we really were.”
