One day after the BBC revealed Peter Capaldi’s new Doctor Who costume, he was filming with Jenna Coleman in public view in Cardiff’s city centre. Spoilers!

Peter Capaldi has been filming Doctor Who for awhile, but today was the first time that he was seen out in public in his new costume.

According to long-time set observer Ryan Farrell @ryanfarrr, the scene was between the Doctor and Clara. Clara leaves the TARDIS. She is fairly upset and on her mobile phone. The Doctor joins her and they seem to have some sort of disagreement. They are cross with each other before reconciling. All is soon forgiven as Clara gives him a hug which seems to take the Doctor aback because he reacts to it awkwardly. Right before the hug, Clara was heard to say something that sounded like “It’s really you.” or “It’s still you.”

In the photos seen below, Clara seems to still be wearing the outfit she had on at the Christmas special. On the other hand, Peter Capaldi is wearing the new outfit that the BBC released official photos of yesterday. Notably, he was still wearing his wedding ring. According to Farrell, Capaldi rarely takes the ring off for roles. It will be interesting to see if the ring is out of frame in the finished episode, if they CGI it out, or if they write it in somehow.

The set was one that the BBC had managed to keep a lid on. There were no early warning signs that tipped area residents off to filming. Farrell literally found the filming by accident when he stepped out to get milk. He did manage to overhear one major spoiler (highlight to reveal text). Matt Smith, or at least his voice, may be back. Regarding the phone call, Farrell states, “it’s the Eleventh Doctor, from Trenzalore. He’s saying goodbye to Clara.”

The cast may be seen filming again tomorrow in the general area where the end of the episode, “The Waters of Mars” was filmed several years ago.

How do you think Capaldi and Coleman look together?
