Pete Davidson will step into the shoes of Joey Ramone for his next starring role.

According to Variety, Saturday Night Live vet Pete Davidson has joined the cast of Netflix and STX Films’ I Slept With Joey Ramone.

Based on the memoir of the same name by Joey Ramone’s brother, Mickey Leigh, the forthcoming biopic is being made with the blessing of the legendary punk rocker’s estate. (Ramone, who was born Jeffrey Ross Hyman, passed in 2001 from lymphoma.)

I Slept With Joey Ramone is set to tell the story of the titular rockstar who co-founded the Ramones in Queens in 1974, before going on to help give birth to the punk rock scene state-side as well as across the pond in the U.K.

Behind the camera, the forthcoming biopic is set to be helmed by Jason Orley. Orley and Pete Davidson are no strangers to working together. The pair previously teamed up on the comedy Big Time Adolescence as well as on Davidson’s own stand up comedy special, Alive From New York.

In addition to starring in the film as the titular puck rock legend, Davidson will also work with Orley on adapting Leigh’s memoir for the screen.

Leigh himself is on board to serve as an executive producer on the project along with Davidson, as well as David Spiegelman and Rory Rosegarten.

Netflix and STX Films have yet to specify when we might expect to see the biopic debut.
