The first trailer for Pet Sematary is here, and is here to warn you that sometimes it is better for dead things to stay dead.

It’s a great time to be a Stephen King fan with so much of his work being turned into movies or TV shows. Pet Sematary is the latest of Stephen King’s classic horror novels to get adapted into a feature-length film, and Paramount Pictures just released the first trailer for the spooky new film.

While the trailer is definitely more of a teaser than anything, it doesn’t waste any time letting us know that we can expect non-stop horror with this new movie.

Pet Sematary follows Rachel and Louie Creed who move into a new house on the edge of a forest. They soon learn about the mysterious, dark nature of the forest and the even more mysterious pet cemetery held within the borders of the forest. When the Creed’s cat is killed by a truck, they must bury their beloved pet in the cemetery, and things only get crazier from there.

After fighting for their lives and their sanity, the Creeds soon realize that sometimes it’s better for dead things to just stay that way. We will have to wait for the movie to release in theaters to see if the Creeds are able to realize the dark power held in the cemetery and escape its grasp before its too late, but this movie is shaping up to be an excellent adaptation of one of the well-loved novels in Stephen King’s catalog.

Pet Sematary stars Amy Seimetz, Jason Clarke, and John Lithgow, and opens in theaters everywhere on April 5, 2019.
